Welcome!
I'm so glad that you stumbled upon my journey.....thanks for dropping by!
I've wanted to start a blog for some time now, and it's always been that "thing" that winds up on my back burner. Every once in a while I'll say, "I should really start a blog" and then move on with my life and leave it behind.
I'm a believer in following your calling, seeking what sets your soul on fire, and making those things happen, and it just so happens that I have always loved to write! After a lot of procrastinating, here I am--ready to seize the day, and share my story with the world.
So here's a little about me.....This totally feels like making a "dating" profile for potential followers hahaha....
I wear a lot of hats in life, but I enjoy each and every one of them (it goes along with that whole setting your soul on fire thing).
--I am an Army wife, married to my post-high school sweetheart. We met at 18 just after our first semester in college and engaged only weeks later (that's a story for another day!) and were married at 22. We found out we were expecting baby number 1 at age 24, approximately 2 weeks before he was scheduled to leave for Basic Training with the Army. I swear Army life is 99% dealing with those unexpected things--so it was very fitting for the beginning of our Army journey!
--I'm a mom to two beautiful littles who teach me more every day than I feel like I could ever teach them. They especially like to teach me lessons in patience, which I will fully admit is NOT a strong suit of mine. Sometimes I think the universe sent them to me so I could grow as much as they do. They are currently 3 and 5, and the total lights of both of our lives.
--I'm a homeschool mom! This is a BRAND new adventure as of 2017-2018 school year, as our current duty station has an extremely early Kindergarten cutoff date, so my daughter, who would normally be starting school, was ineligible. Rather than have her be a year behind her peers, I chose to un-officially homeschool her this year. I'm also working with my son, as much as his attention span will allow, to prepare him for Pre-K next year!
--I'm a NATURE lover to the core. There is no place on earth that I feel more rested, connected, open to receiving energies, and peaceful than in the woods, at the beach, on a hiking trail, or simply with my bare feet on the earth.
--I was formerly the lead singer for a number of local blues bands back in my home town! I started at the age of 15 and never looked back! Mommyhood and Army Life have temporarily pulled me away from my band family, but aside from being in nature, the other place I am always the most comfortable is on a stage with a microphone in my hand, wailing some amazing blues tunes.
--I'm a grant writer and marketing coordinator for a music and arts education non-profit in my hometown. The organization is where my love for music was fostered, my musical family was found, I learned to love performance, and I grew immensely as a young adult. I was a student of the program for six years, and have worked on staff for ten years! I love my job, and the organization, and cannot imagine where my life would be without it!
--I'm a health and wellness coach for Team Beachbody. With all of the above hats, taking care of myself quickly fell to the wayside in the hustle and bustle of life. Finding Beachbody truly saved me. It gave me an outlet for stress, increased my energy, gave me an amazing support system and helped build new friendships all around the country! It allows me to work on my health and fitness without having to leave my house, and that's extremely necessary with everything else that I have on my plate! No more driving to the gym, waiting for machines to open, or having ZERO clue what I'm doing!
--I'm a Level I Reiki practitioner! Spirituality is so important to me, but not necessarily in the traditional sense of religion. I love learning about different religions, talking to people about them, and exploring for what works in my life. I tend to seek out positive people, high vibrations, kindness, empathy, and unconditional love. I also give those things back, sometimes to a fault. I'm attracted to non-judgemental, open-minded, loving, kind, honest, humble, and beautiful souls. I also love crystals, gems, and stones and find peace while working with them. Reiki helps to heal my soul, keep me balanced, and allows me to give peace and healing back to others. I also enjoy meditation and yoga practices for the same reasons. I seek spirituality in all things, especially the beauty and expanse of nature.
With all of that said--these will be the types of topics that my blog encompasses!
Army life, homeschooling, parenting, the importance of music and the arts, outdoor adventures and connecting to nature, health and wellness, my personal journey with Beachbody, and a little about my soul searching spiritual journey!
I hope you'll visit often, and feel free to reach out and connect if you feel the urge! I love meeting new people!
